Play Vampire: the Masquerade 5E with £5 RPG starter set New Blood

The necks generation.

You can now get started with horror fantasy RPG Vampire: The Masquerade for a fiver with the recently-released New Blood Starter Pack - a PDF print-and-play ebook that’s designed to get newcomers into Vampire: The Masquerade 5E.

The Vampire: The Masquerade - New Blood Starter Pack includes a new story, rules reference guide, printable enemy and victim cards, seven player characters, and a relationship map - which helps establish both character and non-player character connections.

In the tabletop RPG, you play a vampire struggling with the loss of your humanity. Story-wise, you begin as a group of newly-formed vampires, who all wake up in a meat locker, with little memory of what happened the previous night. However, you have an unfamiliar, urgent hunger. You’ll learn that you’ve been ‘embraced’ into the world of ‘kindred’ - or turned into a vampire, to use the standard lingo. Next up, you’ll pick a place to party, or hunt victims.

As an “apex nocturnal predator”, you’ll get all sorts of fun powers, like super speed and increased strength, along with that pesky blood lust.

It’s specifically for adult players, as it contains graphic and written content of a “mature” nature, including strong language, sexual themes and violence.

Part of the World of Darkness setting, the original Vampire: The Masquerade was released in 1991, followed by a revised edition in 1998. After the game line was cancelled in 2004, Vampire: The Masquerade got resurrected from its unearthly slumber for a 20th Anniversary Edition in 2011. The fifth edition of the RPG was released in 2018.

The New Blood Starter pack comes from Vampire distributor Modiphius Entertainment, which is currently working on the tabletop RPG adaptation of video game Dishonored, along with other Vampire: The Masquerade 5E products.

The Vampire: The Masquerade - New Blood Starter Pack is available now at the Modiphius store for $6 (£5).
