The new mobile app for tabletop roleplaying platform Roll20 looks to be launching in a closed beta, after the original was pulled from stores earlier this year.

Designed for Android and iOS, the Roll20 app for iPad and Android featured a variety of tools to aid players in running and playing their RPG games. These tools included a digital dice rolling function, character sheets, virtual handouts that players could share with one another and access to rulebooks for various roleplaying games. The app also included a text chat tool for players to use to communicate with one another during their games.

However, last May the app was removed from Google Play and Apple stores, with a new Roll20 Mobile app set to be launched in a closed beta. The upcoming app has been confirmed to feature character sheets and dice rolling tools, with other updates and features “coming down the line”.

Roll20 is an online platform that players can use to host, run and play roleplaying games. The platform includes features such as dice rolling and map making tools, as well as character sheets and rulebooks for various RPGs; including Dungeons & Dragons 5E, Pathfinder 2E and smaller games like Kids on Bikes.

Several sourcebooks for D&D 5E will soon be made available on Roll20, such as the upcoming Tasha’s Cauldron of Everything - which will be releasing in stores next month - as well as the Sword Coast Adventurer’s Guide and the Dungeon Master’s Guide.

Players can also expect to see a range of other new RPG content on the platform in the near future, including Alien: The Roleplaying Game - coming to Roll20 tomorrow - the Investigator Handbook for horror RPG Call of Cthulhu, sci-fi roleplaying game Overlight and the kid-friendly game, Wardlings. (Both of which are coming to the platform in Q1 2021.)
