Dune: Adventures in the Imperium RPG reveals cover art and plans for a spring 2021 release

Tell me when they put Oscar Isaac on the cover.

Those looking forward to Dune: Adventures in the Imperium can now preview the cover for the upcoming RPG adaptation of Frank Herbert’s classic science fiction universe. Publisher Mophidius has also announced the game will release in spring 2021.

According to Mophidius, pre-orders for the game will open up sometime during the second week of December through both its website and local retailers. Those who jump on the bandwagon early will receive a PDF copy of the core rulebook before printed editions ship in spring of 2021.

Further details say players will take on the role of “elite agents working for noble houses”, recruiting anyone willing to fight and scheme under your house’s banner - including Fremen from the desert planet of Arrakis.

Polygon has reported that the main campaign of the RPG will take place on Arrakis during the events of Herbert’s first book in the now sprawling Dune universe. Spice, as fans know, is a powerful and influential substance; every house that can make it to Arrakis has done so and are poised to fight for control over it.

The cover for the core book will feature an illustration from Magic: The Gathering and Kult artist Bastien Lecouffe-Deharme, but special edition variants will feature glossy green, red and purple with gold details, showing off the sigils of House Atreides, Harkonnen and Corrino, respectively. Mophidius said other gameplay accessories, such as GM screens and dice sets, will be available alongside the launch of the game.

Dune: Adventures in the Imperium joins the already announced and soon-to-be-released Dune: Imperium, a hybrid deckbuilding and worker placement game published by Dire Wolf. David Villeneuve’s movie adaptation, the first successful attempt since David Lynch’s 1984 version, will launch October 1st, 2021.
